I know everyone is eagerly anticipating spending time with loved ones and a bountiful feast of carbs and tryptophan so I will keep this short. We here at PSS wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and remind everyone that the second phase of pre-sale is coming to an end tomorrow Wed 11/23/16. After tomorrow the discount will drop from 15% to 5%. If you have any questions or haven’t yet placed your order, please don’t hesitate to call or email us and get that taken care of.
Now on to more fun things. We thought it would be fun to share a couple of our favorite recipe ideas for Thanksgiving.
A fun but maybe not super traditional Thanksgiving hors d’oeuvre idea that we love, is the bacon wrapped water chestnut. If you like bacon your tummy and your guests will love you for this one.
- In a medium bowl, marinate the water chestnuts in the soy sauce 6 to 8 hours, or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cut the bacon slices in half. Wrap each water chestnut with 1 half slice of bacon. ( I typically use 1/3rd slice) Secure with toothpick
- Bake in the preheated oven 12 to 15 minutes, or until the bacon is lightly crisp and evenly brown.
Another huge favorite around my house over the holidays is bacon wrapped stuffing balls. Again, if you’re a fan of bacon you can’t go wrong with this idea.
I won’t get too fancy with this one, I usually just use stove top stuffing mix and make it a little moister than the recipe calls for, but you can use any of your favorite stuffing recipes for this. Add in a little extra chicken stock or an egg to help bind it together when wrapping it with bacon. Pin it with a tooth pick and bake it in the oven until the bacon is cooked crisp. This a great twist to a traditional holiday menu item that your family will ask you to make time and time again.
We hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones and that you take a few moments to remember what it is you are thankful for this year.
